A song in the heart

It’s Monday and typically most professional’s nightmare, a malaise somehow linked to the usual lingering hangover of the weekend and the demands of Friday’s unfinished business, like a newly-married bride entreaties for undivided attention in the face of new targets and deadlines.

The weekend has its drama, solace and moments for ponder. Chelsea grabbed a breather from Arsenal’s defeat of Man United in an exciting match that saw two late goals that not only had our hearts back to its seat but also gave us back our bragging rights. At same time, the match set up a prism for some thoughts on swinging extremes. On Saturday, it was gloomy o! Chelsea fans and on Sunday, the spring was back to our steps. Some times life deals us such cards, a moment a despair and the next eureka!

I trudged through the weekend with reading of Bobby Kennedy’s bio-This Life and it brought up its own servings of swinging extremes. As a toddler, Bobby struggled for a father’s affection whose doting was on his Joe Jr. and JFK, heirs apparent of the Kennedy’s but with twist of fate and conspiracies of the universe, recognition, stardom, leadership of the Kennedy clan was foisted on him and till today, one of life’s greatest speech is credited to Bobby.

Talking of life’s conspiracies and the trudge of the weekend, it also had its spices for me. It was filled mostly with exchanging SMSes and phonecalls with my Kenyan sweetheart. My kenyan story is a story of the swinging extremes. An innocuous trip to the eastern cape of the continent in late September 2006 became for me Treasure Island story. I met a most intelligent and breath-taking African Queen. A lady that quotes Dalai Lama off-the-cuff, a lady that has a heart molded in gold, a lady that typifies ‘woman’. Our conversations took us through many subjects but in the end it left in me, a song. A song that ushered in the Monday and a stirring to make each moment count.

Its time to run…….we will still talk tomorrow.

I want not agree on it. I think warm-hearted post. Expressly the designation attracted me to review the unscathed story.
